Hi! I hope everyone else is feeling so much better after some sun this week; I’m really loving the lighter evenings too as there’s more opportunity to enjoy a walk after work. Gone are the thermals and fleeces – the t-shirts are now making an appearance!
In addition to following No Count, the other major change in my life, over the past 8 months, has been doing more daily exercise. I decided to try the C25K app last summer, never thinking for one moment that I’d actually be able to do it. There was no one more surprised than me, as I managed to complete each day and each week until I was running for 8 minutes at a time. Even then, I really didn’t believe I’d be able to run for 15 mins, let alone for 5km!
Well, 8 weeks later, I actually did it! I ran 5km! What a great feeling! I entered the Preston 5km run in September and ran the whole way; I was one of the slowest but that didn’t matter as it was such a great, personal achievement. If you are lucky enough to be fit and healthy, I can’t recommend this way of exercising enough and it’s totally free! I used the following app, but there are plenty of others out there if you’d like to give it a go:
In November, I made my purchase of the year – a Fitbit – and introduced a daily lunchtime walk into my work routine. I’ve also made some amazing Fitbit friends and we really motivate each other to move more, as well as having a good old laugh at the same time!
I am feeling so much better in myself, more alive, more alert and happier than this time last year – all thanks to No Count, exercise and the wonderful fellow WW I have met on my journey.
