Sam's No Count success story
I'm really pleased to be able to bring you the story of Sam's success on No Count.
Over to Sam...
I have always been a little chunky but, like many, after my kids the weight did start to pile on.
At one point, after my first boy, my weight was just over 20st. I was mortified. I joined Slimming World, but I couldn't get my head round it, it was too complicated for me! So, over the years, I just tried doing things my way. I got down to 16st 7lb but developed diabetes type 2. I got past the point of caring in the end. My clothes for work were disgusting, cheap, elasticated bottoms and men’s t-shirts. I just couldn't find anything to fit me or anything nice for that matter at a size 22-24. I was so down, but always had a fake smile on my face, like I didn't care.
Then after years of battling diabetes, high blood pressure, being hot and sweaty, especially at summer time, something clicked in my brain - after years and years of trying, and warnings from my doctor. I saw an offer for Weight Watchers in Jan 18’. ‘Oh what the heck, I’ll give it a go’ I thought. So I started on WW Flex. I did enjoy it but wasn’t completely happy with the selection of free foods. After just 2 weeks, I was scrolling through Connect and I started to see posts for No Count. So I asked questions, got myself a list of the foods, a much wider variety of free foods, and away I went.
I couldn't believe how much I was actually enjoying No Count, as I love my bread, meat, potatoes, pasta etc... it was just a matter of swapping from white to brown/wholemeal. Looking at all the recipes and doing lots of searching, I found a new love of cooking meals from scratch. It meant the family were also eating healthy meals. As the weight dropped off, I felt I was walking more quickly, I wasn't so sweaty, I was doing much more at work even. I seemed to have a new lease of life. The best thing ever was when I went for my diabetes blood checks and, after losing a stone and a half, my HBA1c had gone down to about 44 when it had been close to 60. I was absolutely elated and my doctor was too, calling me a star patient lol. I kept going, joining a No Count Friends group on Facebook, for even more tips and recipes. After about 9 months I’d lost 3st 7lbs. I felt so good, and once again my HBA1c had gone down even further, to 41, meaning I was in a normal range. I could shop anywhere for clothes, and I almost cried when I fit into a size 16!
So thanks to the amazing No Count plan, I've done amazingly well! It’s ongoing, it has totally taught me to eat healthily and of course, with my weekly points, I can have something naughty if I want, without worrying. Yes, I've had up and down weeks, but I’ve always got my head back into it and carried on.
Thank you for reading my story, I would recommend WW to anyone!
